My parents didn’t have any money to send me to school. There were no jobs for me. I was 15 and had nothing to do.
My brother worked on a cocoa plantation in the Ivory Coast. He thought I should come and work with him there. I did for a few months.
Eventually, my brother paid for my bus ticket. I’m definitely not going back to the cocoa plantation. Life there is much too hard.

Who are the children who harvest the cocoa for our chocolate in West Africa? What was their life like? What dreams about the future do they cherish? Fifteen of them tell their stories in this exhibition.
For every ticket of the exhibition or copy of the book sold, a contribution will be made to GRADE-FRB’s rehabilitation shelter for former child labourers.
